Naaman / Preaching for Korean Goose Fathers

A famous K-pop group (Korean pop) group called “Defconn” sings an interesting song. 
The titled is ‘a wild goose.’ 
This song being like this: 

They sing the heart of goose father like this. 

Loneliness sinks deep into the heart. 
I want to put the clock back. 
I hope my miserable destiny to help us 
to seek wings of happiness. 

The song continues. 

This thanksgiving as well, 
I would celebrate alone. 
Cannot remember how well we were, 
when we will reunite again, 
and I cannot remember how old my child is 

Lightening the cigarette again, 
I return to my home where nobody welcomes me. 

Naaman is one of characters in the Bible. 

He was a commander of the army of Aram in the time of Elisha. 

Bible says, 
“He was a great man in the sight of his master 
and highly regarded, 
because through him the Lord had given victory to Aram.” 

Naaman was a valiant soldier. 

However, he had leprosy. 

Naaman, he had political and military power. He had also financial power. So, it seemed that he could possess everything he wanted with his power and money. 
However, he could not buy his health. 
He could not cure himself. 

Can you find out any similarity between Naaman and you? 

Our friends and neighbors ask us “how are you?” 
Then, we always answer “I’m good.” 
“I’m OK.” 
Actually, you seem to be very good. 
You seem to be OK. 

You have a good job. 
You have a luxury car and house. 
You can buy everything you want. 

And, you can afford your living cost as well as your family’s living cost, 
even though they stay abroad. 

Somebody else around you may envy you 
because they cannot send their children to the oversea for the purpose of education. 

But, let me ask all of you again. 
“Are you really good?” 
“Are you really OK?” 
“How are you?” 

Naaman wanted to cure his own leprosy. 
So, he traveled to Israel. 
He thought that his money might be useful; 
his political and military power might be needed to heal his incurable disease. 

So, he took his huge property with him. 
And, he took a letter by the king of Aram, which was sent to the king of Israel. 

Naaman thought that 
if he brought the huge wealth and the letter of the king, 
Elisha, the prophet, would welcome him and would cure his body with divine power. 

However, Elisha never did it. 

Instead of it, Elisha ordered him to take off his clothes, 
to take off your social position, 
to take off your pretentiousness, 
and to wash your body with water. 

Do you think that your money can cure your heart? 
If your children enter a renowned university with your supporting, 
can your wounded mind be restored? 
If you send more money for your family, can it guarantee the happiness in your family? 

No. No. No. 

You need to take off your clothes. 
You need to take off your mask. 
You need to take off your proud mind. 

And, you need to wash your heart with the grace of God.

God our Lord always invite you to the river of God’s grace.
